Reading signal drift after a major platform UI change
By Leo Choi
Platform UI reshuffles are noisy moments. Teams often misread a reporting change as a sudden audience failure, then overcorrect with broad stacks that erase learning.
We start by freezing structural changes for one weekly review window. During that window, we document which metrics moved versus which segments actually shifted. That separation keeps analysts from chasing ghosts.
Second, we rebuild a minimal diagnostic sheet: baseline, assisted versus click-weighted views, and a simple overlap check on top segments. The goal is defensible storytelling, not heroic rescues.
Finally, we update the creative brief with explicit measurement caveats so downstream partners do not promise precision the UI no longer supports. The write-up becomes a dated appendix teams can trust when leadership asks what changed.
